Channel scanner crash

Description
mythtv-setup crashes when I try to do a channel scan. The crash happens 95% of the time. I attached the stack trace to this ticket
I tried to do a scan using Full scan(tuned) method
after I enter the parameters I press next it crashes.

I am having the same crash now on ubuntu gutsy, I built mythtv svn with debugging symbols and got the above backtrace.

I have also experienced this. I don't have the log handy, but running mythtv-setup with -v all showed a lot of random x errors. It would crash about 4/5 times on an athlon x2 but never on a core2duo. Current svn and virtually identical software environment on both, though the intel could possibly have some out-of-date packages. On the occasions that it didn't crash, the "scanning" progress box would sometimes come up correctly, and sometimes come up squished to about 1/3 size.
