not sure if its a ""feature"" or a bug. Current behavior of the live tv browse feature is :

When live tv is entered, on first browse, m_chanid is always 0. If a new channel is selected by browsing + OK, then m_chanid will stay set, and next browse will start from that position. However if you mix browsing and direct channel number inputs from the keypad, then the real current channel and m_chanid get out of step again.
