completely wrong colors in preview window of Watch Recordings

Description
As shown on attached "preview.png" screenshot, the colors in the preview window of Watch Recordings dialog are completely wrong. Compare with "normal.png" which is a screenshot of fullscreen replay (scaled down to same 152x114 size as the preview window to save some space and bandwidth).
This happens on two different frontends with different nVIDIA cards, with and without Xv, 16 and 24 bit color depth. Always same issue.
Two other guys confirmed this issue in the -dev mailing list (subj. "wrong colors and aspect ratio in preview window of Watch Recordings").

This is indicative of an x86 compile where mmx was disabled, which shouldn't ever happen.

My fault. Used ./configure --arch=i686 (which looked like the default value judging from ./configure --help)
