#1140 closed patch (wontfix)

let mythdvd display errormessages from mtd

Reported by: lucas@… Owned by: Anduin Withers
Priority: minor Milestone: unknown
Component: mythvideo Version: head
Severity: medium Keywords: dvd error
Cc: lucas@… Ticket locked: no

Description

When I installed mythdvd, mtd's default place to write temp files is in /var/lib/mythdvd/temp.

I tried to rip a dvd, which didn't work because this dir didn't exist. mtd reported the problem in its console output, but I figured it would be user friendly if mythdvd would notify the user of any problems that happened in mtd.

The attached patch adds this feature. The error message itself doesn't look real nice, because I had it go trough the current mythdvd<->mtd protocol, which seems to be linebased, so I figured adding linebreaks and such to the errormessage would be a bad idea.

I'm new here, so if anything is not according to expected standards please let me know and I'll fix it up.

I keep putting this off in the hopes that I'll have time to rework the mtd protocol to make this sort of thing easier, bumped for later.

awithers,

I was looking at #2896, which led me to search for documentation for the mtd protocol. Could you use some help here? I would be happy to draft up a spec for a revised protocol.

This ticket is ancient, patch hasn't applied in a long, long time, we can open a task ticket if we want to do this kind of thing later.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
