#11715 closed Bug Report - General (fixed)

Incorrect interpretation of "New" as show title in UK Freeview EIT for Channel 5 group

Component: MythTV - EIT Version: 0.26-fixes

Description

Using off-the air EPG in the UK, the backend picks up lots of showings of a show it thinks is called "New".

However, it seems Channel 5 is labelling various different shows with a "New" prefix to flag new episodes. E.g. the show is called "The Gadget Show", but Channel 5 list it as (I guess) "New: The Gadget Show", and Myth interprets that as a show called "New" with episode title "The Gadget Show".

I appreciate that it's likely that Channel 5 are at fault, but it would be great if Myth could fix up the data.

Note that this affects Channel 5, Channel 5+1, and 5* (and I suppose is likely to affect 5 USA, although I see no examples just now).

Hi Stuart!

I am assigning it to you since you addressed one of those recently and can, hopefully, replicate the problem on your side.

If it turns out I am mistaken, please feel free to unassign yourself.

Thank you!

Nicolas

Hi,

How has been this fixed from the FE's point of view?

Quite many spanish TV channels use to prefix titles with one certain string which could be "CINE: ", "EL PELICULÓN: ", and so on. Plus, title could be surrounded by (single/double) quotes, as in "CINE: 'The Hulk'".

IMHO, ideally, it would be nice to have some user-defined, prefix-stripping option which could be independently applied either to program search/recording functions or to EPG display (or both simultaneously).

Just some thoughts.

Kind regards, Antonio
