This seems to happen, if I have a web browser (Chrome) running hardware acceleration enabled.

Increase the audio read-ahead in frontend setup. The default is 100, you can increase to 500 or 1000 and see if that resolves the problem.
In the latest version, vaapi2 has been renamed vaapi decode-only.
