Guessing a bad file descriptor in the FD_SET rfds, should be a simple fix but someone with more knowledge of the socket code should take a look.
The equivalent line in trunk is currently 913.

All the suspect code has changed quite a bit since this was submitted... But please reopen if this problem reoccurs.
