#5793 closed defect (fixed)

screen goes black when window loses focus

Reported by: Simon Kenyon <simon@…> Owned by: Isaac Richards
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.22
Component: mythtv Version: head
Severity: low Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

on my laptop i run mythfrontend in a window. when watching a program and i move my mouse pointer out of the windows and another window gets focus, the mythfrontend window goes black. the program still plays and the sound continues.

as the mouse pointer crosses the border into the mythfrontend window, the picture briefly appears.

the only way to "fix" it is to exit the playing of the program and going back in again.

Please attach logs with -v playback This sounds like it could be a driver / overlay issue, which we can't do much about.

i have a very similar bug, if mythtv gains/looses focus it will redraw itself, and randomly get stuck black.

if i move focus in&out of mythtv 20 times it will sometimes fix itself, but its a pain in the ass having to do that every 30 seconds(when i alt+tab out alot).

i 'fixed' it by setting the XV overlay color to black(which also needed a source hack to allow). but it would be better to fix the source of the problem

Once again, if someone can attach logs, the problem can be looked at.

Can you test whether r19969 helps.

it took some time as i was away on business and also because i was fighting #6091. but i can report that this is fixed.

i do note that if i go into the programme guide and change channel (with up/down followed by X), that when i leave the programme guide that only that portion of the screen that used to be covered by the preview window is now displaying a picture (with the rest black). will raise another bug.
