Description
Matroska (*.mkv) is an envelope for which there can be many audio, video and subtitles streams, allowing the user to store a complete movie or CD in a single file.,
Advantages agains *.avi:
- Matroska is Open source
- Matroska supports Chapter entries
- Matroska Selectable subtitle streams (even vobsubs, merged in the *.mkv)
- Matroska Selectable audio streams
- Matroska Menus (like DVDs have)
mplayer and xine can play *.mkv. http://www.matroska.org/

For anyone who wants to implement Matroska in mtd shold take a look here:
This is a litle bash-script witch makes a perfect matroska-file with multiple languages and subtitles. Hope it is an inspiration.
I leave this Ticket closed, because it is still al feature-request.
