reproduce:
- fresh install of mythtv
- run mythtv-setup and configure 1.general to 4.
- in 4. click the scan channels
setup display freezes and crash: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. [Switching to Thread 0xb26ffb90 (LWP 22954)] 0xb7c2d1e9 in DTVSignalMonitor::GetScanStreamData (this=0x0)

I verifed that 0.22_alpha20291 doesnt crash under the same scenario of scanning for channels
