Show Group Summary settings always shows a summary

The show group summary option in Settings, Playback (4/9) once enabled never lets you disable it (that is - even if you uncheck it, it will always show the group summary in the manage recordings list and not show the details of the first item).

This was using Mythbuntu 9.10 and also if you enable the Auto-Updates repo and use the 0.22 fixes repo.

I am using the Mythbuntu (Widescreen) theme however other themes seem to have the same problem

is no longer hooked to anything and hasn't been since [19603] (the playbackbox/Watch Recordings port to MythUI).

(In [23128]) Remove the "Show Group Summary" setting widget. The setting has been disabled s ince [19603] (the playbackbox port to MythUI).

In the settings rework thread, removal of the Show Group Summary setting was proposed since it's no longer used. We got 2 comments expressing a desire to keep the group summary itself, but no one made any case for allowing the group summary to be disabled. Even though the setting itself is not actually used (and hasn't been for a year), the current behavior is the behavior both responders wanted: MythTV always shows information about the selected group when in the groups list. Therefore, this change removes the no-longer-used setting widget.

Thanks to Tim Mackinnon for noticing the old widget and reminding us to remove it. Refs #7905.

I would VERY much like to be able to show details for the first item in the group like it did in the old days. I think more than half of my groups consist of a single recording (typically a movie). As it is now, I have need 2 extra keypresses for each movie in order to see the details. It should be as easy as possible to browse recordings. I don't know what other people use the "1 recording in group" information for. It is useless to me.

I agree that the "Show Group Summary" setting widget should be removed if it is not functional. But I tell you that I was happy when I first found it and disappointed when I noticed that it didn't work!
